Chuck Liddell Says He’d Retire With A Loss To Tito Ortiz
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz are set to clash this November under the Golden Boy MMA banner.
Fans may not see Liddell compete many more time after this bout because he has promised to retire if Ortiz gets a victory in the third encounter.
“If he beats me, I have no business being back in the ring again. If he beats me, I’m done,” Liddell said to Radio Rahim of Seconds Out.
Liddell is going to be competing for the first time in over eight years, while Ortiz is back in action for the first time in just under two years.
One huge reason that Liddell is coming out of retirement is that his fans wanted to see Ortiz get beat up once more.
“I have nothing left to prove. I just don’t like him,” Liddell said. “My fans, it’s their favorite guy for me to knock out. I’ve been asked more often since I’ve been retired, ‘Will you please come back one more time and knock this guy out again?’ That’s the most common request I get when I’m out and about.”
Golden Boy MMA: Liddell vs. Ortiz III takes place on Saturday, November 24 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
