Chris Weidman Posts X-Rays Of Injury Suffered At UFC 261

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has provided photos of X-Rays of the leg injury he suffered in his rematch with Uriah Hall at UFC 261 this past weekend.

Weidman posted the following X-Rays across his social media platforms showcasing the gruesome damage done to his right leg and what it looks like now post-surgery. The injury happened only 17 seconds into the main card bout between the two middleweight contenders as Hall checked an outside low kick delivered by Weidman.

The New York native underwent successful surgery to repair the break in his right leg and provided an update following the operation via a video post from his Instagram account. Weidman gave an expected timetable for his recovery from the injury, praised Hall and former opponent Anderson Silva’s kind words following what happened at UFC 261, and revealed the actual extent of the injury he suffered.

“I just wanna let everybody know I’m so thankful for all the love and support and I really do want to get back to you all,” Weidman said. “I know Uriah Hall was super classy since this happened to me and I really appreciate that. I know Anderson Silva came out and said some really nice things, it’s pretty brutal but I’m going to get through this. I think it’s going to be eight weeks until I can walk without crutches and stuff, and drive and all that. As far as actual training they said between six to twelve months I’ll be good to go. Surgery was successful, they put a titanium rod through the tibia. So they go through the knee and they take the rod and they drill it through the tibia to make it straight and hard. My fibula was broken as well, but I guess when they put the tibia back together my leg was straight, and the fibula kind of matched back up to where it was broken and they feel like that can heal on its own.”
