Charlie Ward vs. Pietro Penini Re-Booked For Bellator London
A middleweight division attraction that was originally set for Bellator 227 has been re-booked for Bellator London as Charlie Ward faces Pietro Penini. Ward was the reason the bout was canceled at Bellator 227, as the fighter suffered an injury a short time before the event.
The announcement of the fight being re-booked was made by the Bellator Europe Twitter page.
Ward (7-3-0) is undefeated thus far under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating the four pack of John Redmond, Martin Hudson, Jamie Stephenson and Justin Moore. Ward went winless during a two fight stint in the UFC, dropping bouts to the duo of Abdul Razak Alhassan and Galore Bofando. Ward has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of those defeats came by KO/TKO.
Penini (8-1-1-1NC) is making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Penini is the current Italian Cage Fighting Middleweight Champion, defeating Nihad Nasufovic to win the gold at ICF 6. Penini has competed a total of eleven times as a professional MMA fighter and three of those bouts went the distance.
Bellator London takes place on Saturday, November 23 from the SSE Arena in London, England with Michael Page and Derek Anderson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on the Bellator App.
