Butterbean Doesn’t See An Athletic Commission Allowing The McGregor vs. Mayweather Fight Happening

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has signed his portion of the fighters agreement to face boxing great Floyd Mayweather later this year. Wednesday, McGregor and Mayweather made it official

Even if Mayweather signs his half of the agreement, boxing great Butterbean feels that the athletic commissions wouldn’t allow the fight to happen anyway.

“If McGregor were to go out and get some boxing matches, I don’t see … I mean, just personally I went through it myself when I went to fight in Vegas on a PRIDE show, and they wanted me and Mark Hunt to fight MMA, and I wasn’t qualified to fight a level of Mark Hunt in MMA,” Butterbean said on MMA Junkie Radio. “I don’t see a commission in the U.S. approving it, because of McGregor’s lack of boxing matches.”

McGregor does have no professional boxing experience to speak of, which is a big concern of Butterbean’s in getting the fight approved.

Butterbean does acknowledge as well that if the fight were to be approved, there is no chance that McGregor would get the win.

“He just doesn’t have the experience. It’s going to be a boring fight. It’ll be a one-sided fight – put it that way,” says Butterbean.

Mayweather Promotions recently reserved the MGM Grand for a boxing event on August 26, which will host the McGregor-McGregor fight.
