Bruce Buffer Plans To Remain UFC Announcer For Another Decade

Bruce Buffer has been with the UFC for over two decades and if the longtime ring announcer has his way, it will be a long time before he drops the mic.

Buffer made the proclamation in a recent interview on Just Scrap Radio.

“I’m very humble about it all. I’m all about passion, everything I do is with a passion that is the reason why I announce the way I do,” Buffer said (via Cole Shelton of BJPenn.com). “When that passion starts to fade, which is not my case, then yes that is the time I will probably announce it is my time to retire. But, I would say you are stuck with me for at least another 10 years. I’m in great shape and stay in great shape. I’m lucky to do what I do.”

Buffer is not just a ring announce though, he has also served as an agent for his half brother Michael Buffer, and hosts his own podcast, among other things. Taking care of himself and his throat is the key to Buffer’s longevity.

“Don’t do anything to damage it. Don’t smoke, just take care of it like you take care of your body,” he said. “My throat is my work tool so I just do the basics and don’t abuse it.”

Fans can hear Buffer next this weekend at UFC Fight Night Vegas 8, which is set for Saturday, August 29. The event is headlined by ranked light heavyweights Anthony Smith and Aleksandar Rakic.
