Brendan Schaub Takes Shots At FS1’s All Black Panel For UFC Shows
Fox Sports 1 hosts many live events for the UFC, usually with a mix of fighters and other personalities serving at the analyst desk for the pre-fight and post-fight shows, plus on UFC Tonight.
Brendan Schaub is a retired fighter and the co-host of “The Fighter & The Kid” podcast alongside Bryan Callen. At the analyst desk for this past weekends UFC Fight Night Belem event were Karyn Bryant, UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and retired fighter Yves Edwards…who are all African American.
The retired Schaub, before UFC Fight Night Belem, claims that FS1 checked off a box by having an all black panel handling the analyst duties for a variety of UFC related events on the channel. It should be noted that Schaub didn’t directly mention the UFC Fight Night Belem analyst team in what he said.
“Sometimes you look at UFC Tonight and you’re like, ‘Alright, is that the best panel possible? Or are you just trying to check off the boxes?’” Schaub said on the Big Brown Breakdown. “We get it, UFC Tonight FOX, you’re not racist. We get it, you have an all-black panel. We get it. Woah, we get it. We get it, man.”
After hearing about the comments made by Schaub, one of the analyst in Edwards questioned the retired fighter about what he said, which led to a Twitter exchange.
Yo @BrendanSchaub what’s this bullshit you running your mouth about? https://t.co/FHRppw6Dmk

Meant zero disrespect to you. I spent 30 mins praising Daniel Cormier and said he’s the best in the world besides Rogan. Kevin Lee and I were discussing black fighters & entertainment. Bad job on my part. That’s on me. I love you guys. Watch all of the shows. My bad. I’m sorry.

I appreciate your apology. I wasn’t talking about race but when you say someone isn’t good enough to do the job and you don’t say who, I want to know if you’re talking about me. I wasn’t assuming or insinuating you are racist. Don’t sweat that, that’s not a thing.

None of the other analysts, UFC officials or anybody from FS1 have yet to comment on what Schaub said.
