Retired UFC fighter Brendan Schaub is just one of the many people waiting to see if the highly rumored boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
The only thing that Schaub isn’t a fan of is that UFC fighter Kevin Lee is helping train Mayweather Jr.
"I wouldn't say Kevin Lee is a good mimic of Conor McGregor," Schaub said on the Big Brown Breakdown podcast. "Lee's base is wrestling. This is just [Mayweather] not knowing the sport. If [Mayweather's camp] should do anything, they should bring in, as money is no issue to Floyd, that Brazilian cat [Jonas Bilharinho] that Jose Aldo used to mimic McGregor. Granted, it didn't work out for Aldo but, he moves like Conor."
Lee recently stated that it was Mayweather Jr.’s fight team that contacted him about helping out with his training camp.
One reason that Schaub doesn’t think Lee is a good training partner is because he feels that Lee cannot mimic the fighting style of McGregor.
"I've never seen one move like Conor McGreg. The guy in Brazil that Aldo used is similar," Schaub said. "He's unorthodox and Mayweather needs an unorthodox striker to get ready for McGregor."
Schaub has been retired for a few years now, he currently hosts the Big Brown Breakdown podcast and co-hosts The Fighter & The Kid podcast.
