Brandon Moreno Wants To Fight Ray Borg
Brandon Moreno is ranked #7 in the UFC Flyweight Division and he has already earned three victories under the UFC banner.
For his fourth fight in the UFC, the top ranked prospect wouldn’t mind a huge step up in competition in the form of Ray Borg.
“Personally, I’d love to fight Ray Borg. I’d really like to fight him,” Moreno said to MMA Fighting. “He’s failed to make weight a few times, that’s the only thing that worries me a bit. But if could make the weight, I’d love to fight him. I feel like it’s a fight between the new youth that are coming up, and I think he is the same age as me, and we’re very similar in style. And if it’s not Ray Borg, there is Formiga, Wilson Reis, Sergio Pettis, if he’s able to get past Henry [Cejudo]. So I’d love to fight him [Borg], but there are many options. I want to fight Borg because he’s really good. If you look at his skills, his jiu-jitsu, his grappling, his striking, it’s all really good and I think it would be an excellent test for me. I want to see how good I am and I feel like he’s really good.”
Borg hasn’t competed since he defeated Jussier Formiga by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 106 in March 2017.
Moreno also believes that he is just a few victories away from a title shot against champion Demetrious Johnson.
“I think in a perfect world, I just need one or two more fights,” Moreno said. “It’s because of the situation in the division. It’s a very shallow division, Demetrious has already beaten everyone, there are very few fresh names, and I’m one of them. So I think one or two more victories and I wouldn't have anywhere else to go, you know?”
The three victories that Moreno has already earned in the UFC thus far came over Louis Smolka, Ryan Benoit and Dustin Ortiz.
