Bobby Lashley goes over a number of topics.
This past Monday on RAW Bobby Lashley clashed with Roman Reigns in the squared circle to determine who was going to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam on August 19th. Lashley came up short in the bout as the match he has been talking about for years slipped out of his hands.
Lashley has stated over numerous platforms and in interviews that he would love to mix it up with Brock in both the wrestling ring and the octagon. Bobby Lashley turned out a 15-2 record during his tenure as a Mixed Martial Artist and Lashley also has a number of other accolades on his resume’ stemming from his collegiate wrestling background. Bobby spoke with ‘Newshub’ prior the WWE Universal Championship #1 contenders match and discussed why competing against Lesnar in both the wrestling ring and the octagon is something that people deserve to see.
“Our careers are so similar,” Lashley said. “We were both WWE guys, then we went into fighting then we have both come back to WWE. It makes sense.”[MMA] was something I suggested when I first came in. The problem is I am still currently contracted to Bellator and Brock is signed with the UFC. However if there was some sort of cross promotion fight we could do, with all three companies involved, then I would absolutely love to do it.” He continued, “Right now I’m focused on the wrestling side of things and what comes with that, including a match with Brock, but I would be down for that and I am sure the fans would be as well. We will see.”
The former XFN Heavyweight Champion as mentioned discussed wanting to face Brock in the wrestling ring now that the two are in the same company. Brock Lesnar has made his presence felt in the UFC once again after being called out by Daniel Cormier at the close of UFC 226 and soon reentering the USADA testing pool to begin fighting for the company again. Bobby Lashley entertained the idea of a potential Cormier versus Lesnar fight and broke down how the fight would play out in his eyes.
“Brock is Brock – he is going to charge and he is going to push his size on Cormier,” Lashley said. “Brock is so much bigger than Cormier and I think Cormier needs to take that into consideration. He will be the smaller fighter, use his quickness and stay away from Brock. If Brock can get on top of Cormier he will punish him. Cormier is so well rounded – it’s a real tough fight for Brock against an Olympic level wrestler. Awesome fight though.”
Bobby Lashley was not able to advance to SummerSlam to challenge Brock Lesnar but Roman Reigns will be doing just that. Head over to Fightful’s “events” section to take a look at the match card for this year’s “Biggest Party Of The Summer”.
