Bobby Green Replaces Abel Trujillo At UFC 216
Abel Trujillo has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been pulled from UFC 216, replacing him against Lando Vannata is going to be Bobby Green.
Vannata (9-2-0) has won just one of three under the UFC banner, with that lone victory coming over John Makdessi at UFC 206. Vannata also competed in the Resurrection Fighting Alliance, defeating Chad Curry by TKO at RFA 32. Vannata has only seen two of his eleven professional MMA fights go the distance. The last one was his loss to David Teymur at UFC 209.
Green (23-8-0) enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he hasn’t earned a victory in over three years. Green did start off his UFC run with a four fight winning streak, which included a win over former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh Thomson at UFC On Fox 12. Green also fought five times under the Strikeforce banner, picking up four wins during his time in the now defunct promotion.
UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
