Blackzilians Head Says Team Isn’t Dead
Glenn Robinson has been the head of the Blackzilians since the team came together in 2010, but former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans recently stated that the team is nearly dead, something Robinson disagrees with.
“Blackzilians are going to continue, and we’re still going to be an incredible organization,” Robinson told MMA Junkie.
Robinson is doing his best to keep the team together for many reasons, but the biggest may be that he’s very close to a lot of the fighters, especially Anthony Johnson.
“Some of the guys I’m very close with, like Anthony. I’m going to stay in this sport because I care about them,” he said. “And there were people I’m not close with – they had this air of, ‘I deserve,’ not, ‘I should earn.’ I had young guys asking me for cars that weren’t even in the UFC. I got fed up with it. So there were a lot of people I didn’t really want to work with anymore, and this allowed me to come in and clean house. I would have liked it to have worked out with Henri, but it didn’t work out.”
The team is currently in transition as well, as they are waiting to move into their new facilities, something that has been delayed until later this year at the earliest.
