Ben Askren Wants To Fight Darren Till In His UFC Debut
The UFC and One Championship recently finished a historical trade, which sent Ben Askren to the UFC and Demetrious Johnson to One Championship.
Askren is already thinking about his UFC debut and he would love to fight Darren Till in that bout.
“Obviously, my number one and two would be GSP [Georges St-Pierre] and Khabib [Nurmagomedov] but I know there’s no way in hell I’m getting either one of those two first round,” Askren said on the Rudis Wrestling podcast. “So I’m hoping to get matched up with this Englishman named Darren Till. He just fought for the world title, he’s ranked number two. I had a little Twitter fight with him. I think he’s significantly overrated. So I would like to fight him.”
Till hasn’t fought since UFC 228, where he suffered a second round submission loss to UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.
If the bout does come to fruition, a perfect location according to Askren is in the enemy territory known as London, England.
“I’m willing to go to London to fight him, so we will see what happens with that,” Askren said.
There are no UFC events set for London for the remainder of 2018, but the promotion is expected to return there in 2019.
