Ben Askren Says All The Welterweights Are Talking About Him

Ben Askren was in attendance at UFC Fight Night London, where Jorge Masvidal defeated Darren Till by second round knockout in the main event.

The undefeated competitor says that when it comes to the UFC Welterweight Division, all the fighters in the weight class are talking about him.

“All these welterweights are talking about me,” he said to MMA Junkie. “It’s so funny, because they’re like, ‘I don’t realize why he came over here.’ Dum-dum, this is exactly why I came over her – because you’re talking about me.”

Askren has fought just once before in the UFC, defeating former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler by first round submission at UFC 235.

Both Lawler and UFC President Dana White wanted to put together a rematch with Askren after the controversial finish at UFC 235, but Askren still isn’t to keen on the idea.

“To me, it feels like it’s falling on deaf ears,” he said. “I didn’t want to fight Robbie in the first place. I didn’t have anything against him. There’s all these welterweights I don’t like that I would prefer to fight. And so it feels like I need to take the next step and move on.”

There is no word at this time as to who Askren will fight next, as he is ranked #6 in the UFC Welterweight Division.
