Bellator President Scott Coker Says Company Is Negotiating With Rory MacDonald

Bellator is very much involved in the Rory MacDonald sweepstakes.

The soon to be 27-year old former UFC title challenger MacDonald is in high demand despite losing his last two fights. Bellator President Scott Coker confirmed that the company and MacDonald’s representatives have spoken of late.

“We are in talks with his management,” Coker said after Saturday’s Bellator 158 event in London. “There’s nothing imminent right now. We’re just in discussions, and discussions are going well.”

MacDonald would enter a Bellator welterweight division that features the likes of champion Andrey Koreshkov, Douglas Lima, Michael Page, Paul Daley, Fernando Gonzalez, Marius Zaromskis, Josh Koscheck, and recently signed Paul Bradley.

Cokes isn’t sold that a deal can go down, but he’s optimistic that MacDonald’s future will be decided soon, even though he’s sidelined with another broken nose after his loss to Stephen Thompson in June.

“He’s somebody that we’d be interested in, but can we come to a deal? I’m not sure,” Coker wondered “I know the guys back home are on it, and hopefully we’ll have a decision one way or another pretty soon, and we’ll find out where he’s going to fight.”
