Hager used his reach and pressure to dictate the pace in round one. The AEW star showed improved boxing in round two. He mostly avoided combinations but landed accurately with straights and crosses. He gave up the second round with approximately 30-seconds left, eating a big elbow that sent his mouthpiece flying. Calton did not have the gas tank to finish a desperate Hager who held on for dear life. Hager stumbled his opponent in the third and pressed him against the fence; however, a low blow by Hager allowed his opponent to reset in the center and land hard shots of his own. Hager hurt Calton to the body but the fight was arguably a toss-up.
