Anthony Pettis – Dustin Poirier Headlining UFC Fight Night Norfolk

The main event has been set for UFC Fight Night Norfolk and it takes place in the lightweight division as #8 Dustin Poirier battles #13 Anthony Pettis.

It was Pettis’ coach in Duke Roufus who first made the announcement via Instgram:

The UFC has since confirmed the fight through Twitter.

Poirier (21-5-0-1NC) is competing for the first time since the controversial no contest against former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 211. Poirier has won five of seven since moving to the lightweight division, with those wins coming over Carlos Diego Ferreira, Yancy Medeiros, Joseph Duffy, Bobby Green and Jim Miller. Poirier is actually winless against current/past UFC Lightweight Champions in his UFC run, fighting former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to a no contest and losing to current lightweight champion Conor McGregor at UFC 178.

Pettis (20-6-0) has been undefeated since returning to the lightweight division, having defeated Jim Miller by decision at UFC 213. Pettis is also a former UFC Lightweight Champion, having defeated Ben Henderson for the gold at UFC 164. Pettis has also challenged for the UFC Interim Featherweight Title, losing to Max Holloway at UFC 206 last year.

UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place on Saturday, November 11 from the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia with Dustin Poirier and Anthony Pettis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
