Anthony Johnson Says Winning Title Is His Obsession

Anthony Johnson will be challenging for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title this Saturday Night at UFC 210.

The title challenger feels that the only obsession he has in life is his goal to become a champion.

“Getting the belt would definitely put everything in place for me,” Johnson said to MMA Fighting. “And mentally, it’s like an obsession."

Johnson and Cormier have clashed before, with Cormier winning the fight and the title by third round submission at UFC 187.

Now that they are a few days away from the second meeting, the challenger considers himself a different fighter than the one Cormier fought the first time.

“I’m definitely not the same fighter I was two years ago,” Johnson said. “Every day, every week, every month, every year I’m getting better and better, so you’ll see a different guy out there the next time you see me fight. “[The loss] definitely lit a fire under my ass to train harder and know what I needed to do to beat this guy.”

UFC 210 takes place on Saturday, April 8 from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining. Fight is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow the next morning.
