Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has competed since being defeated by Jared Cannonier via first round TKO at UFC 237.

Silva suffered a knee injury during the fight, which is what led to the loss, and now the fighter has undergone surgery to fix the issue.

The fighter posted the following video on Instagram, promising to finish out his UFC contract once the knee heals up from surgery:

Here is a translation of what Silva said in the video, provided by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting:

“I finished my knee surgery. I will recover now. I’m fine, and wanted to thank everyone’s support, and (thank) my fans that cheer for me. I’ll be 100 percent soon, and do my two fights in the UFC. I wanted to thank every UFC fan. I finished my surgery and everything is fine, I’m going home. Thanks.”

There is no word at this time as to when Silva will return to action, but more should be known as the knee injury heals up.
