Amateur MMA Fighter Hurts Child During Post-Fight Scuffle
UFC Fight Night 104 may have been the big MMA event of the day on February 4, but for those in attendance at Impact Fight League 68, they left with a memory bigger than anything the UFC product produced.
Tyler Meadows defeated Dylan Carpenter by TKO at the event, but then he leaped out of the cage in celebration and that’s when all hell broke lose. That’s because Meadows sat in the lap was a fellow MMA fighter, he then told Fox 2 Detroit what he said to the fellow fighter:
“I talked to him. I said I was going to take his head off. It’s just a competitive thing.”
Shortly after the statement was uttered by Meadows, the unnamed fighter charged at Meadows and a scuffle ensued. It was during that melee that a 12 year old kid, as well as others in attendance, were hurt due to the actions of the brawl.
The 12 year old child received attention from the medical personnel on sight. The severity of his injuries are not known.
Following the scuffle, Meadows was found backstage by some police officers in attendance and promptly escorted from the building. Meadows would be notified a few days later by Michigan officials that he’s no longer allowed to compete as an amateur in the state. He was also put on a nationwide ban to keep him from competing as an amateur in the United States.
“That was never meant to happen,” he said. “I go there to inspire people. I have a three-month-old daughter. I’m not there to hurt people in the crowd or make people think bad of me.”
