Amanda Nunes Has Been Training Three Years For Ronda Rousey Fight
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes is getting ready to defend her championship for the first time when she faces former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 207. Nunes though, has been training for this moment for the last three years, something she recently talked about to MMA Mania.
"I didn’t really think anything. I wanted to see her face when it gets real. And that was the moment, it was a big moment for me. I am very confident and I know I am going to take this fight. And that moment was amazing. I don’t know how to explain it. Ever since I got into the UFC, I always thought about that fight. Even if I have another opponent, after I finished that fight, I trained for Ronda Rousey. At the time she was the champion; now I’m the champion and she’s the challenger. How crazy is this? Ronda is really tough. But I know if I put my game, I will take this fight. We know everything Ronda brings. I know everything. I have a breakdown of Rousey I watch everyday. I know everything she does good and bad. I will take this fight,” Nunes said.
Nunes won the women’s bantamweight title when she submitted Miesha Tate in the first round of their encounter at UFC 200. Rousey has not competed since losing the bantamweight title via knockout to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015.
UFC 207 takes place on Friday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey headlining.
