Aljamain Sterling-Petr Yan Rematch Moved To UFC 273 In April
The UFC bantamweight title rematch between current champion Aljamain Sterling and interim champion Petr Yan has been rescheduled for UFC 273 on April 9.
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani was the first one to report the news of the new date for the 135-pound title clash via a tweet, although the promotion is yet to officially confirm anything regarding the booking itself. Sterling and Yan’s second meeting was initially targeted for UFC 272 on March 5, but will now be moved to the April 9 date and serve as the night’s co-main event. Sterling hasn’t competed since his initial meeting with Yan back at UFC 259 last March, where he won the title via disqualification in the fourth round after the 28-year old Russian landed an illegal knee. Yan, on the other hand, is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Cory Sandhagen at UFC 267, landing him the interim UFC bantamweight title and a rematch with Sterling.
