Alexis Davis Supports Former Foe Ronda Rousey In WWE Career

Alexis Davis is stepping back into action at UFC Fight Night Nashville, facing Jennifer Maia in a women’s flyweight division attraction.

It has been over seven months since the last time Davis fought, but the long layoff wasn’t what she wanted.

“Hey, it was not my choice. I wanted to be on the Toronto card, I hadn’t fought East Coast…really. I don’t know (why I haven’t fought), timing and they’re still trying to figure out…well they probably still are, how they’re going to situate everyone in the division…(which is) still clearly new. I was hoping to fight kind of earlier so…I was actually…I don’t know how I did it, but I was really good during Christmas. Just trying to keep ready…stay ready, but you know what…I’m fighting, a fights a fight. I just excited to kind of be back in there,” says Davis in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Davis last competed at UFC On Fox 30, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Katlyn Chookagian.

WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey had fought Davis during their time together in the UFC and Davis couldn’t be happier for how her former foe in faring in pro wrestling.

“You know what, I did for a little bit. Obviously I think all fighters, especially women fighters…we need to be supportive of each other in different avenues that they may take. Whether what you see with acting or the WWE, which is probably very similar. I did a little bit in the beginning, but unless it kind of comes up on my news feed, then I haven’t really paid as much attention to it. Good for her, man…she’s gotta be reaching for the coin to be doing that and doing good for herself,” says Davis.

UFC Fight Night Nashville takes place on Saturday, March 23 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee with Stephen Thompson and Anthony Pettis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
