Al Iaquinta Wants To Fight, Ignore Politics
Al Iaquinta was last seen in action at UFC On Fox 31, defeating Kevin Lee by decision in the main event of the evening.
If there is one thing Iaquinta wants to do in the future, it would be to focus on fighting and ignore the politics surrounding the fight game.
“I’m focused on fighting for sure, but I’m not focused on the nonsense and the politics and the drama,” he said on Submission Radio. “I’m focused on freaking punching people and taking them down and ground and pound and submission. That’s the stuff I’m focused on, my craft. Not this garbage politics that’s going on. That turns me off big time. But I am focused on real estate because I don’t really hold much water to the conversations we’ve been having. And the way things go, I just kind of… you get a little bit of faith and they just take it right away from you.”
The fighter and the UFC haven’t always gotten along, with both sides taking shots at each other through the years.
Iaquinta also has a return date in mind for his next fight, which should come around springtime.
“End of April, beginning of May. I think May is probably the best option. I think May would be great. So, well see what happens,” says Iaquinta.
There are currently six UFC cards scheduled for April and May, giving Iaquinta plenty of opportunities to step inside the Octagon once again.
