Zab Judah vs. Cletus Seldin Set For June 7 In New York

Former world champion Zab Judah will return to the ring this summer during International Boxing Hall of Fame weekend.

Judah will take on once-beaten rising contender Cletus Seldin on June 7 at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York.

The 41-year-old Judah has won his last two fights after more than three years out of the sport. Judah has won multiple world titles in two weight classes, having held the IBF and WBO junior welterweight titles as well as the WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight titles. Judah has not fought since defeating Noel Mejia Rincon in January 2018 by unanimous decision.

Seldin has won his last two fights after suffering his first career loss to Yves Ulysse Jr. in December 2017. That fight took place just weeks after Seldin stopped Roberto Ortiz in the third round, giving Seldin little time to rest in between fights. Seldin bounced back from his first loss with a pair of first-round knockouts. The first was against Nelson Lara last November and then against Adam Mate in January.

The co-main event will be a middleweight bout between James McGirt Jr., the son of James “Buddy” McGirt, and unbeaten contender David Papot. McGirt Jr.’s father is a member of this year’s Hall of Fame class. McGirt will be inducted alongside fellow former wold champions Donald Curry, Julian Jackson in Canastota, New York. International Hall of Fame Boxing week runs from June 6 to June 9. Other inductees are Tony DeMarco, Teddy Atlas, Lee Samuels, Don Elbaum and Guy Jutras.
