Yukinori Oguni To Return To Action In December At Korakuen Hall

It’s been well over a calendar year since we last saw Yukinori Oguni and even longer since he won a fight, but Oguni is ready to make a comeback.

It was announced that Oguni will fight on the December 1 Korakuen Hall boxing card, marking the first time since September 13, 2017 that Oguni stepped inside a ring. Oguni’s opponent has not been named yet.

Oguni, a former IBF super bantamweight champion, will be looking to win his first fight since winning his title on the 2016 New Year’s Eve boxing card in Kyoto, Japan. Oguni won the title with a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Guzman. After that fight, Oguni would go on to lose the title to Ryosuke Iwasa in September. Prior to winning the world title, Oguni had been one of Japan’s top super bantamweights, first holding the OPBF belt from 2011 to 2013 and then the Japanese national championship from 2014 to 2015, winning a fight in the Champions Carnival during that reign.

The December 1 card from Korakuen Hall will feature a Japanese national junior welterweight title fight between titleholder Valentine Hosokawa and Takashi Inagaki. The fight will be Hosokawa’s second title defense since winning the belt last December with an extremely close unanimous decision win over Koichi Aso.
