Wladimir Klitschko Hints At Potential Comeback In Twitter Post
On the anniversary of one of his biggest fights, Wladimir Klitschko may have dropped a hint that he could be considering a return to boxing.
Today, April 29, is the two-year anniversary of his heavyweight classic against Anthony Joshua for the unified WBA and IBF titles at Wembley Stadium. The fight, which headlined Wembley Stadium in front of a record-breaking crowd of 90,000, saw Joshua stop Klitschko in the 11th round in a bout that ended up being Fightful’s boxing “Fight of the Year” for 2017.
Klitschko posted a tweet about the two-year anniversary, crediting Joshua for the outstanding fight he gave the former unified champion. The tweet appears to be innocuous on its own until he says the phrase “so far” when discussing his boxing career.
Although, I didn’t win the titles on April 29th 2017, for me, it was one of my best days in my long boxing career (so far). Thanks @anthonyfjoshua for being the perfect opponent and part of my obsession to become a champion again! #obsessed pic.twitter.com/vFSPLXG9QF

Klitschko was going to have a rematch against Anthony Joshua in the fall of 2017, but Klitschko simply opted to retire instead. Since then, Joshua would go on to add the WBO title to his collection of world titles and is set to headline a Matchroom Boxing card at Madison Square Garden on June 1 against an opponent still to be determined later.
As for Klitschko’s possible end to his retirement, this isn’t the first time that Klitschko has been linked to a comeback. Klitschko had been reportedly negotiating with the DAZN streaming service about a multi-fight deal. Back in January, Klitschko denied rumors that he would be coming out of retirement to possibly face heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte.
