Weigh-In Results For Final HBO Boxing Card
HBO Boxing’s long history will come to an end on December 8 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California and they are ending with two women’s world title fights.
A first for HBO, the network is doing something different for its final live boxing card with unified titleholders Cecilia Braekhus and Claressa Shields defending their respective world titles. Before 2018, HBO had never aired live women’s boxing fights but now they will air two such bouts on the same night.
The event will end HBO’s 45 years of broadcasting many of history’s greatest boxing fights and showcasing many stars within the sport. But in the meantime, the weigh-ins for the final card took place and all the fighters competing in world title bouts made weight.
Below are the weigh-in results:
Main Card (HBO 10:20 p.m. ET):
Cecilia Braekhus (146.8 lbs) vs. Aleksandra Magdziak-Lopes (146.4 lbs): Undisputed WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF and IBO Women’s Welterweight title bout
Juan Francisco Estrada (120.4 lbs) vs. Victor Mendez (119.2 lbs):
Claressa Shields (159.2 lbs) vs. Femke Hermans (157 lbs): Unified WBA, WBC and IBF Women’s Middleweight title bout
HBO had its final edition of “World Championship Boxing” on November 24 with Dmitry Bivol defeating Jean Pascal to retain his WBA light heavyweight title. The final HBO pay-per-view took place on September 15 with Canelo Alvarez defeating Gennady Golovkin in their highly-anticipated middleweight title rematch.
The broadcast will feature the return of longtime broadcaster Larry Merchant, who has been a part of HBO for several decades until his departure in 2012.
