WBA Super Middleweight Title Eliminator Set To Headline October Matchroom Boxing Show

A shot at the WBA super middleweight title is on the line on an upcoming Matchroom Boxing card in London.

The British promotional company announced a boxing card set to take place at the Copper Box Arena on October 27. The main event is John Ryder vs. Andrey Sirotkin in a 12-round fight with the winner being the mandatory challenger to the WBA title being held by “super” champion George Groves. The fight pits two of the top five super middleweights ranked by the WBA.

By the time Ryder and Sirotkin step into the ring, they will have known who will be the WBA titleholder as Groves is set to defend his title against Callum Smith. That fight will be the World Boxing Super Series 168-pound finals taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on September 28.

A number of top British fighters are also competing on the card. Ryan Walsh will defend his British featherweight title against Isaac Lowe, while undefeated rising contender Jordan Gill will challenge for Ryan Doyle’s Commonwealth featherweight title. The other title fight on the card is Jake Ball vs. Craig Richards for the WBA Intercontinental light heavyweight title.

Isaac Chamberlain, in his first fight since suffering his first pro loss back in February, will fight Luke Watkins in a 10-round bout. Prospects Martin Joseph Ward and Reece Bellotti are also announced to fight on October 27 in separate bouts against opponents to be named at a later date.
