WBA Rankings Update May 2019
After a very busy month of fights, the WBA has released the latest version of its rankings.
Unveiled on May 31, a couple of former world champions entered the rankings, Daniel Jacobs and Jarrett Hurd, after losing title bouts in May. The two fighters appeared in the top 2 at both middleweight and junior middleweight, respectively. But they aren’t the only fighters that saw movement in the WBA rankings and Fightful has you covered with the changes in the rankings.
Below are notable changes in the May 2019 version of the WBA rankings in every weight class:
Heavyweight:
– No notable changes
Cruiserweight:
– Beibut Shumenov is removed as “Regular” champion
– Arsen Goulamirian is elevated from Gold champion to “Regular” champion
Light Heavyweight:
– Meng Fanlong (formerly No. 12) drops out of the rankings
– Mike Lee (formerly No. 14) drops out of the rankings
– Mathieu Bauderlique enters the rankings at No. 13
– Leon Bunn enters the rankings at No. 14
Super Middleweight:
– Bilal Akkawy drops from No. 4 to No. 12
Middleweight:
– Dormedes Potes (formerly No. 8) drops out of the rankings
– Maciej Sulecki (formerly No. 9) drops out of the rankings
– Khasan Baysangurov (formerly No. 15) drops out of the rankings
