Vasiliy Lomachenko Suffered Hand Injury During Win Over Anthony Crolla
Vasiliy Lomachenko’s impressive knockout victory over Anthony Crolla in Los Angeles came with some potentially bad news as he suffered an injury to his right hand.
A number of reports have stated that Lomachenko’s right hand is injured with the possibility of it being broken. The injury came as a result of Lomachenko landing a heavy right hand to the side of Crolla’s head in the fourth round to retain his WBA and WBO lightweight titles. Crystina Poncher tweeted that Lomachenko told her that he believes his hand is broken while Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times expanded on the story a bit.
Pugmire reported that Lomachenko injured a knuckle and that he will be examined to decide whether or not the knuckle is broken. Regardless of the severity, Pugmire added that Arum told him plans are still intact for him to return to the ring and defend his unified titles in September.

Told that @VasylLomachenko injured a knuckle on his right hand on the knockout punch of Crolla and will be examined later Saturday to see if it’s a break. If it is, promoter @BobArum tells me it won’t alter plans for a September return.

Poncher and Pugmire aren’t the only ones who have also commented on Lomachenko’s injury. Crolla himself said in an interview with talkSPORT that Lomachenko told him he suffered the injury.
“He broke his hand with that shot – he hit me hard enough,” Crolla said.
This is the second time Lomachenko suffered an injury during a fight since 2018. Lomachenko tore his right labrum as a result of his May 2018 win over Jorge Linares at Madison Square Garden and had to undergo surgery which kept him out of action until December.
