UPDATE: Adrien Broner Contemplating Suicide, According To Posts
Adrien Broner, who has is a former champion in four different weight classes, is contemplating committing suicide based off of Instagram posts that he has been posting throughout the day.
Broner released this post below, along with other cryptic posts that include a picture of a gun.
“3PM I’m doing it I’m sorry to my family and friends but I don’t want to be here no more this shit too much,” Broner wrote on Instagram.
According to TMZ, Broner’s friends have contacted police because they are afraid he truly will kill himself. On Broner’s Twitter account, he had been linking his Instagram posts along with a tweet that said “Sorry,” and “I’m going home I love y’all.”
Broner has had a troubled life at several points. He has said the sport of boxing saved him from a life on the streets in Ohio, where he grew up. He has also had run-ins with the law, being charged by the Cincinnati Police Department with felonious assault and aggravated robbery back in March, stemming from an incident in January.
The 27-year-old has won his last two fights. He defeated Khabib Allakhverdiev last October to win the vacant WBA (Super) super lightweight title, but got stripped of the title for missing weight ahead of his next fight against Ashley Theophane.
Broner had only lost two fights in his professional career, against Shawn Porter last year, and Marcos Maidana back in late 2013. He has won titles at super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight.
UPDATE 3:50 PM EST: Fightful.com has been told Broner is home and safe.
