Tyson Fury Wants To Fight WBC Champion Deontay Wilder
As he is getting ready to return to the ring after more than two years away of the ring, Tyson Fury is back to calling out boxing’s world heavyweight champions.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Fury said he has unfinished business with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. A fight between Wilder and Fury had been teased in early 2016 when Fury entered the ring to call out Wilder after Wilder knocked out Artur Szpilka. This came soon after Fury had defeated Wladimir Klitschko to win the unified WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine heavyweight titles. But the fight never happened as a rematch between Fury and Klitschko kept getting stalled throughout 2016 until Fury’s positive drug tests ended the fight for good.
“He’s made for me. Whatever happens in his career, whether he gets knocked out in his next fight, I want to fight him, because we’ve got unfinished business. When I get in the ring, I’ll really give him a good hiding,” Fury said.
Fury recently was granted his license by the British Boxing Board of Control and finished up a drug suspension with the UKAD to freely resume his boxing career. Fury has also spent the last several months calling out unified WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. As of this writing, no date has been officially announced for Fury’s return to the ring, despite claims from him that he would fight sometime in April.
Due to his inactivity, Fury was recently stripped of the Ring Magazine heavyweight title. The full interview with Sky Sports can be read at this link.
