Tyson Fury: “I Picked Deontay Wilder Because I Believe He Is An Easy Touch”

Tyson Fury is not lacking in confidence ahead of his WBC heavyweight title fight against Deontay Wilder.

In the first press conference ahead of their December 1 clash, Fury spoke highly of his chances of not only winning the fight against Wilder, but also knocking out the undefeated WBC champion.

“I will punch his face right in. Not a problem, seven days on a week and twice on a Sunday. If we fought 30 times, I’d win 30 times. That’s how confident I am of beating Deontay Wilder. The thing is, I picked this fight. I said to Frank, ‘get me this fight.’ I could have fought another 10 bums if I wanted to. No one forced me to fight Deontay Wilder. I picked Deontay Wilder because I believe he is an easy touch. I believe he is a lemon and I am going to squeeze him nice and hard, 100 percent. I am going to make lemonade out of him,” Fury said.

This will be Fury’s third fight since returning from a two-and-a-half year break from the sport which saw him get a lengthy drug suspension and retire on more than one occasion. Fury has previously held the WBA, WBO and IBF titles, but has never held the WBC title. The fight would be the culmination of two years’ worth of buildup since Fury traveled to New York and confronted Wilder in the ring after a title defense in early 2016.

The two heavyweight stars are set to headline a Showtime pay-per-view at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The entire first press conference, which took place in London, can be seen in the video above.
