Top Rank, Boxing World Reacts To Maxim Dadashev’s Death
Maxim Dadashev’s death has the entire sport of boxing in mourning over the loss of a young fighter.
The 28-year-old passed away in the morning of July 23 after spending days in a medically induced coma following surgery for a subdural hematoma. The fighter sustained injuries from a fight against Subriel Matias on July 19 in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The fight was stopped by Dadashev’s trainer Buddy McGirt after the 11th round in order to protect his fighter and Dadashev was sent to a hospital where he underwent surgery.
Top Rank released the following statement on Dadashev’s passing.
Top Rank is devastated to report that Maxim Dadashev passed away earlier this morning due to injuries sustained during last Friday’s bout. Maxim was a talented fighter inside the ring and a loving husband and father outside the ropes. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum: “Maxim was a terrific young man. We are all saddened and affected by his untimely death.”
The rest of the boxing world came together in solidarity to send their condolences to Dadashev and his family. Below are a series of tweets from the rest of the boxing community.

Rest In Peace, Maxim Dadashev. #Boxing is a very unforgiving sport. We can’t make it safe, but we can make it safer. We can also rally to economically help his wife and son. We must take care of our own. This is heartbreaking news.
