Title Fights Added To Joshua-Pulev October 28 Card
Aside from the world heavyweight and world super flyweight titles being defended on the October 28 card in Cardiff, Wales, the WBA female lightweight and two Commonwealth titles will also be on the line.
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn announced on social media that 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Taylor, who is 6-0 as a professional boxer, will challenge Anahi Sanchez for the WBA title on that October 28 card, headlined by Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev.
Taylor is not just a former Olympic Gold Medalist in the amateur level, she is also a five-time AIBA World Champion. Taylor turned pro late last year, winning all six of her fights.
Sanchez won the vacant WBA title last month when she defeated Cecilia Sofia Mena. Sanchez is also a former IBF female super featherweight champion and a former interim WBA female featherweight champion.
As for the Commonwealth titles, the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles will be on the line. Lenroy Thomas and David Allen will fight for the Commonwealth heavyweight title in a rematch from back in May when Thomas won a split decision fight.
Also on the card is a fight between Frank Buglioni and Callum Johnson where the Commonwealth and BBBofC British light heavyweight titles are unified. Buglioni, the BBBofC British champion, and Johnson, the Commonwealth champion, have a combined record of 36-2-1.
Joshua will be defending his IBF heavyweight title against Pulev and WBA super flyweight champion Kal Yafai will defend his title against mandatory challenger Sho Ichida.
