Tevin Farmer vs. Billy Dib IBF 135-Pound Title Bout Set For August 3 In Australia

Tevin Farmer and Billy Dib have a date and venue for their upcoming IBF super featherweight title fight.

Farmer and Dib will fight for the vacant title on August 3 in Sydney, Australia. The fight will be Dib’s second shot at a super featherweight world title while Farmer will get a chance to fight for the title a second time.

The fight between the two was originally supposed to be an interim title fight as Kenichi Ogawa’s drug case was being reviewed. Last December, Ogawa won the title previously stripped from Gervonta Davis after missing weight in an August title defense. Ogawa defeated Farmer with a controversial decision win that was later turned into a no contest after Ogawa tested positive for androstanediol in a pre-fight urine test.

While Ogawa’s case was being overseen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the IBF ordered Farmer and Dib, the organization’s two highest-ranked available super featherweights, to fight for an interim title. Once the NSAC suspended Ogawa and changed the fight result to a no contest, the interim title fight was elevated to a full world title as Ogawa was stripped of the title.

Dib is a former IBF featherweight titleholder and previously challenged for the WBC super featherweight title. Dib has not lost since May 2015 with three wins and one no contest.

This will be the third world title fight to take place in Australia in the past 12 months. The first two were Jeff Horn’s WBO welterweight title wins over Manny Pacquiao and Gary Corcoran.
