Tevin Farmer Retains IBF Super Featherweight Title With Dominant Win Against Guillaume Frenois

Tevin Farmer’s reign as the IBF super featherweight champion continued after another dominant win on DAZN.

In the co-main event of a DAZN card in Arlington, Texas, Farmer defeated mandatory challenger Guillaume Frenois to retain his title. Farmer scored the win with scores of 119-108, 116-111 and 116-111.

Farmer dominated the bout throughout most of the first 10 rounds, outboxing the French challenger. Frenois got hit with several shots to the head and body and lost several exchanges in the middle of the ring. Farmer did get deducted a point in the 10th round due to a low blow. From that point forward, a desperate Frenois tried to outwork Farmer which did little to change the final result on the scorecards, despite landing solid left hands on Farmer.

This was Farmer’s fourth world title defense since winning the belt last October when he defeated Billy Dib in Australia. Since then, Farmer made all of his defenses on DAZN, beating James Tennyson, Francisco Fonseca, Jono Carroll and now Frenois.

On the opening fight of the undercard, Tramaine Williams scored perhaps the biggest win of his pro career by scoring a decisive victory over Yenifel Vicente. Williams captured the USBA and WBO-NABO super bantamweight titles with scores of 97-91, 97-91 and 96-92.

The fight was ugly and filled with plenty of illegal shots, most of them coming from Vicente. On more than one occasion, Vicente threw punches below the belt and was even deducted a point in two different rounds for doing so. Late in the fight, Vicente landed a punch well after the bell that could have resulted in him being disqualified. With the win, Williams could potentially move on to be ranked higher and hopes to get a big fight before the end of the year as he told Fightful before the fight.
