Steve Cunningham: The Money Team Isn’t Fighting For Tabiti
At age 41, with a record of 29-8-1, Steve Cunningham isn’t the first — or fifth — biggest name on the Mayweather vs. McGregor undercard. The veteran fighter has a mission, however.
Cunningham will compete against undefeated Andrew Tabitii for the vacant USBA Cruiserweight Championship on Saturday night, and welcomes the challenge.
“I love challenges. Fighting Tyson Fury was a challenge… Fighting a young, hungry undefeated fighter that they say has power is a challenge. Money Team, Funny Team, it doesn’t matter whoever he fights for. Money Team isn’t getting in there and fighting for him,” said Cunningham to Fightful.com.
14 years his opponent’s senior, Cunningham sees that as an advantage over Tabiti, who is fourteen fights and three years into his professional boxing career to Cunningham’s 38 fights.
“I have the experience. If you have a gun at home and a guy breaks into your house, are you gonna ball up your fist and go after him? That gun is my experience, I’m gonna go blow his brains out,” said Cunningham.
