Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas Averages 1.628 Million Viewers For Fox Telecast

PBC’s latest boxing card on Fox saw an improvement in both viewership and ratings from their last telecast.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the March 9 PBC on Fox card from Carson, California, headlined by Shawn Porter vs. Yordenis Ugas for the WBC welterweight title, averaged 1.628 million viewers and drew a 1.06 household rating. The card was going head to head with the Michigan vs. Michigan State college basketball game on ESPN, which averaged 2.849 viewers as well as the Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers NBA game that averaged 3.066 million viewers on ABC.

Both numbers are up from the last PBC on Fox card, which took place on February 16. That card, headlined by Leo Santa Cruz vs. Rafael Rivera for the WBA “Super” featherweight title, averaged 1.376 million viewers and drew a 0.90 rating. But the ratings for the March 9 card are down from the January 26 show, which featured Keith Thurman‘s in-ring return and averaged 1.98 million viewers and had a 1.27 rating.

Porter won a split decision against Ugas to retain his WBC welterweight title in Porter’s first title defense. In the co-main event, Abel Ramos defeated Francisco Santana by unanimous decision and in the opening televised bout, Efe Ajagba stopped Amir Mansour after two rounds.

The next PBC card produced by Fox is actually a pay-per-view event from AT&T Stadium and the main event is Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia for the IBF welterweight title. The next PBC card to be televised on Fox will take place on April 20 in Carson, California and that card will be headlined by Danny Garcia vs. Adrian Granados for the WBC Silver welterweight title.
