Rob Brant Signs Co-Promotional Deal With Top Rank
WBA “regular” middleweight champion Rob Brant has signed with Top Rank Boxing and looking to fight on ESPN in the future.
Top Rank announced that Brant has signed a multi-year co-promotional deal with Brant and promoter Greg Cohen Promotions and Rapacz Boxing. In the press release that was sent to Fightful, Brant said he’s excited to become a big star and keep on fighting as a world champion.
“I am very excited to be a part of one of the oldest and most prestigious promotions in the sport of boxing. I look forward to reaching my maximum potential and maintaining my status as a world champion under Top Rank. This is a dream come true, and I will not take this opportunity for granted,” Brant said.
Brant recently won the WBA title weeks ago when he dominated Ryota Murata and won a wide unanimous decision to win his first world title. The fight headlined a boxing card from Las Vegas that was streamed on ESPN+. In that win over Murata in October, Brant threw 1,262 total punches.
The announcement comes about a week after Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing had been trying to sign Brant to a promotional deal. The signing is a victory for Top Rank, who have missed out on signing eventual WBO champion Demetrius Andrade, who signed with Matchroom Boxing and is fighting for the DAZN streaming service. With Brant signing with Top Rank and fellow world champions Canelo Alvarez and Andrade fighting on DAZN, that leaves Gennady Golovkin as the only truly big middleweight free agent. Brant’s first fight under the new deal is expected to be announced soon.
