Report: Luis Nery Expected To Fight On Pacquiao vs. Thurman PPV Card
Former bantamweight world champion Luis Nery’s second fight with PBC appears to be taking place on PBC’s next pay-per-view event.
According to Mike Coppinger, Nery is expected to fight next on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman main card taking place on July 20 in Las Vegas. Nery would take on an opponent to be named later at a later date. Although no name is set in stone, the two likeliest names to face Nery are former champions Juan Carlos Payano and Rau’shee Warren.

Nery, a former WBC bantamweight champion, lost his belt on the scales before a title defense against Shinsuke Yamanaka in early 2018. Since then, Nery served a suspension and returned to the ring last November with a win over Jason Canoy. Afterwards, Nery defeated Renson Robles and later signed with PBC. Nery’s last fight took place on March 16 at the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia PPV card when he stopped McJoe Arroyo after four rounds.
Payano bounced back from a first-round knockout loss to Naoya Inoue last year with an eight-round decision win against Damien Vazquez on March 9. Warren has not fought since losing to Nordine Oubaali in January with the vacant WBC bantamweight title on the line.
The card will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with the main event of the pay-per-view portion of the show being Pacquiao vs. Thurman for the WBA welterweight title. The prelim card, which will be televised on Fox, will be headlined by Caleb Plant vs. Mike Lee for the IBF super middleweight title.
