According to a report from ESPN, Acosta will make his third world title defense on March 30 will take place at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. No opponent was named for Acosta in the ESPN report, but it is said to be the main event of a DAZN boxing card.
Acosta won the title on the undercard of fellow Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto’s retirement fight against Sadam Ali in December 2017 by knocking out Juan Alejo. Acosta would defend his title twice in 2018: once against Carlos Buitrago in June in Puerto Rico and once against Abraham Rodriguez in October, both of which were inside the distance. The win against Rodriguez headlined a Golden Boy Promotions card streamed exclusively on Facebook Watch.

The first one is Daniel Zorrilla, a 25-year-old welterweight prospect from Puerto Rico who has won all 10 of his fights. Out of the six wins Zorrilla had in 2018, four of them were stoppage wins.
Another prospect being planned for the event is Eduardo Hernandez. Hernandez is a 21-year-old fighter from Mexico who has won all 27 of his pro bouts. During his career, Hernandez has won the interim WBC Latino and WBC Youth World super featherweight titles. Hernandez has successfully defended the WBC Youth title five times between 2017 and 2018.
