Regis Prograis Believes He Should On People’s P4P Lists
There’s been a lot of movement in boxing’s pound-for-pound rankings in recent weeks and Regis Prograis believes he should be the next man included in that list.
After his World Boxing Super Series win over WBA junior welterweight champion Kiryl Relikh to win his first world title, Regis Prograis believes he should now be considered for a spot on many people’s top 10 in their respective pound-for-pound rankings. Prograis’ resume has grown considerably in the past year, having defeated former unified champion Julius Indongo and former lightweight champion Terry Flanagan and most recently against Relikh in his last three fights.
“I feel like they have to put me in there. I’m running through everybody. This is my 24th fight, and I’m running through everyone. That’s the world champion undefeated. You look at Maurice Hooker, Jose Ramirez, put me in pound for pound,” Prograis said.
But now that Prograis has won the WBA title and advanced to the WBSS finals, he will have to wait a bit for finding out who his opponent is. The other semifinal bout is Josh Taylor vs. Ivan Baranchyk for the IBF title taking place next month in Scotland. When asked who he would like to face next, Prograis said it doesn’t matter who he faces next but also admitted that he may be leaning towards Taylor.
“You know, it doesn’t matter. I honestly want to fight Josh Taylor more because some people say he can beat me, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter,” Prograis said.
Prograis advanced to the finals on April 27 with a dominant performance against Relikh, having knocked him down in the first round before stopping him in the sixth round.
