Pair Of Women’s World Title Fights Added To Weekend Broadcasts
Boxing fans are getting an opportunity to see a pair of world title fights on April 13.
In Atlantic City, New Jersey, the vacant IBF featherweight title fight Elena Gradinar and Brenda Karen Carabajal will be streamed on Facebook. That fight will lead in to the Showtime-televised card that headlined by Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer for the undisputed women’s middleweight title.
Gradinar is an unbeaten fighter from Russia who has won all nine of her pro bouts since making her debut in 2016. Gradinar last fought in March 2018 when she won a 10-round decision against Olivia Gerula to win the IBF Intercontinental titleholder.
Carabajal is on a two-fight win streak since unsuccessfully challenging for the WBO lightweight title in 2017, losing to Rose Volante by majority decision. It was Carabajal’s second time fighting for the WBO title as she was unable to win that title in her first attempt in 2016.
The other world title fight added to a broadcast lineup on a boxing card is the WBO flyweight title bout between Arely Mucino and Yairineth Alruva. That fight, according to the WBO, will be on the DAZN broadcast from Monterrey, Mexico that will be headlined by Jaime Munguia vs. Dennis Hogan for the WBO junior middleweight title.
Mucino has held the WBO title since February 2018 and this will be her second title defense. Mucino has been one of the most successful women’s boxers at flyweight in recent memory, having held a version of a world title in every major organization. Mucino has held the interim WBA, WBC and IBF flyweight titles prior to this current reign with the WBO title.
