Navarrete vs. Lopez Ratings, Inside PBC Canceled, Moloney vs. Franco Weights | Fight-Size Boxing Update
Here’s your fight-size boxing update for June 23, 2020:
– The June 20 Top Rank on ESPN card, which took place in Mexico and featured WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete, averaged 327,000 viewers, up from the 305,000 viewers the June 18 card averaged. In addition, the card drew 128,000 viewers in 18-49 demographic, a 0.22 household rating and a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which was 51st on cable for the day.
– According to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, the “Inside PBC Boxing” show has been axed due to FS1 scaling back production on shoulder programming for both boxing and WWE.
FS1 is scaling back production on its boxing and WWE shoulder programming. “WWE Backstage will not longer be produced weekly. It is eliminating “Inside PBC.” Double digit job losses as a result. SBJ Media will have the full story tonight.

- WBA “Regular” Super Flyweight title (115-pound limit): Andrew Moloney (114.6 lbs) vs. Joshua Franco (115 lbs)
- Featherweight bout: Christopher Diaz (124.9 lbs) vs. Jason Sanchez (126 lbs)
- Lightweight bout: Joseph Adorno (136 lbs) vs. Alexis del Bosque (134.2 lbs)
- Junior Welterweight bout: Rolando Vargas (137 lbs) vs. Miguel Contreras (137.4 lbs)
- Heavyweight bout: Helaman Olguin (290 lbs) vs. Adam Stewart (232.1 lbs)
– Top Rank announced that amateur standout Javier Martinez, has signed a multi-year contract with Top Rank and will make his professional debut as a middleweight on the June 30 ESPN card. Martinez won the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.
– WBO President Francisco Valcarcel recently appeared on ESPN Knockout and said if WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson moves up to super featherweight and vacates his title and if WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete moves up from super bantamweight to featherweight, then he could fight top-ranked featherweight Michael Conlan for the vacant featherweight title.
– After it was initially thought that WBC minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin retired from boxing, the WBC Asian Boxing Council announced that Menayothin won’t be retiring after all.
We are pleased to confirm that the current World Boxing Council minimum-weight world champion Wanheng Menayothin has not retired from professional boxing. The champ will look to make his next defense of his WBC world title in the coming months.
