Moloney Brothers To Fight In Separate Bouts On June 15 In Australia

The Moloney brothers are returning to action this summer and compete on the same card.

Contenders Andrew and Jason Moloney have been announced to have separate fights on a boxing card at the Seagulls Rugby League Club in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia on June 15. No opponent was mentioned for either fighter.

Andrew is an unbeaten super flyweight contender who has emerged as the mandatory challenger to the WBA world title currently being held by Kal Yafai. Andrew won a title eliminator in Chile back in March, scoring a TKO victory over Miguel Gonzalez.

Although Andrew is the current mandatory challenger to the WBA title, he won’t get his title shot until much later this year at the earliest. Yafai is more than likely defending his title against Norbelto Jimenez on June 1 at Madison Square Garden, though that fight has yet to be announced. Andrew is ranked No. 3 by the WBC, No. 2 by the WBA and No. 6 by the IBF at super flyweight.

Jason, on the other hand, is looking to start a win streak after losing to IBF bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez last year in the first round of the World Boxing Super Series. Jason is coming off a TKO win over Cris Paulino on March 30 to retain his WBA Oceania title. Jason is currently ranked in the top eight of all four governing bodies with his highest ranking being No. 3 by the WBA.
