MJF v Paddy Pimblett is a crossover fight that fans want to see

Professional combat sports are full of seemingly bizarre crossover fights these days. Admittedly, some are intriguing matches fans want to see while others are one-sided contests that fail to raise the needle. However, one match-up that would certainly bring the world of combat sports to a standstill is a potential crossover bout between Paddy Pimblett and Maxwell Tyler Friedman. Like many, you may be wondering how this unlikely feud has arisen and in essence, it started after the two became embroiled in a spat on Instagram.

MJF even went as far as saying that he would stop by the T-Moblie Arena in Las Vegas during Pimblett’s next fight against Jared Gordon in order to confront the 27-year-old. As for the particular fight in question in Vegas during mid-December, it is a bout that Pimblett is expected to win with the Liverpudlian at a price 1/2 to beat his American opponent. Fans that expect the Englishman to stay undefeated during the fourth fight of his UFC career can access a Betfair welcome offer allowing bettors £30 in free bets after they place a £10 bet. Many people expect Pimblett to come away from Las Vegas with his perfect record still intact but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will leave Sin City free of problems.

If the back and forth on Instagram between Pimblett and MJF was anything to go by, the Englishman could have a future match with the AEW champion to worry about. Like all of these unique crossover fights, this particular one would be no different. On paper at least, it’s a complete mismatch. MJF does, after all, weigh 30kgs more than Pimbett as well as having a height advantage.

The brutality of MMA

That could count for very little given that Pimblett competes in the Octagon where the result is anything but predetermined. The reality is that MMA is a brutal and unforgiving code that leaves no room for storylines which as a result, leads to some of the most jaw-dropping scenes in the world of combat sports.

The risks involved in professional wrestling

This was the point that Pimblett was trying to make when he became locked into an argument with MJF on social media but the current AEW champion was adamant that wrestling was far more dangerous than anything that goes on in the Octagon.

It was a bold point to make but then again, to a certain degree, you can also appreciate what MJF is trying to say given that even if the result in wrestling is known before a match starts, that doesn’t take away from the fact that wrestlers put their bodies on the line.

Let this argument be settled once and for all

Ultimately, these two contrasting points of view are shared by many fight fans which is why an extraordinary crossover bout between Pimblett and MJF would capture the world’s attention. At least, why not put this argument to bed once and for all by letting two outstanding athletes from both codes fight it out to see who is the toughest?
