Mikey Garcia (WBC Champion) vs. Robert Easter Jr. (IBF Champion): WBC/IBF Lightweight Title Unification

Round 1: The fight starts off with a serenade of “Mikey!” chants. Easter throws a couple of jabs. Both men stick to the center of the ring as Easter throws more jabs. Mikey is moving well, but hasn’t thrown much in the first minute. Garcia lands a left jab. Easter responds with three straight jabs. Easter throws a 1-2 to the body. Garcia throws a right but doesn’t fully connect yet the Staples Center cheers loudly for it. Easter lands a left hand upstairs.

Fightful scored round 1 for Easter 10-9

Round 2: Easter throws a right jab to Garcia’s body. Garcia lands a left jab and then a big right hook, the best punch of the fight thus far. Garcia is the aggressor for a moment until Easter lands a left jab upstairs. Garcia missed with the left hook. Both men trade shots and get tangled up. The two fighters get scrappy at the end of the round.

Fightful scored round 2 for Garcia 10-9

Round 3: Easter throws a jab to Garcia’s body, followed by a three-punch combo to the body. The crowd continues to chant “Mikey!” Garcia lands another big punch. Garcia has landed the stronger punches so far while Easter continues to use the jab as his offense. Easter throws a left uppercut followed by a right hook. Garcia lands a left hook to knock down Easter and the Staples Center is unglued.

Round 4: Garcia is looking more lively after knocking down Easter. Easter is fighting off his backfoot and is now looking to counter punch instead of attacking forward. Garcia lands a beautiful four-punch combo. Garcia lands two straight jabs that split Easter’s guard. Easter blocks Garcia’s left hook. Garcia is pressuring Easter to the ropes, landing a stiff left hook.

Round 5: Easter throws a couple of jabs upstairs but Garcia blocks it. The crowd is chanting “Broner Sucks!!!” Easter is being more aggressive with his punches but Garcia is still being more effective. Garcia lands a right hand that has Easter off balance for a quick second. Easter throws a couple of jabs to the body. Garcia barely connects with the right hook.

Round 6: Easter throws a couple of more jabs, but they are not doing any damage to Garcia. Easter continues to throw the jab and lands one on Garcia’s forehead. Garcia connects with a counter left hook. Garcia now lands a lead left hook followed by a right jab. Garcia continues to land more jabs as Easter’s jabs to the body are mostly ineffective. Both fighters clinch and Garcia unloads a series of left hooks.

Round 7: Easter now goes to throw jabs upstairs instead of the body. Garcia is now the one moving around the ring and Easter is now in the center. Easter keeps throwing more jabs and Garcia keeps walking through them. Garcia starts to pressure Easter. Garcia lands a short left to Easter’s body. Garcia lands two straight right hands to Easter’s face.

Round 8: Both men exchange several jabs, but Garcia quickly gets the upper hand. Easter is in survival mode. Garcia pressures Easter around the ring, landing a right jab in the process. Easter eats a four-punch combo while trapped in the corner. Garcia lands several more right hands.

Round 9: Garcia lands several more punches to start the round. Garcia then throws eight uninterrupted punches as Easter’s back is to the ropes. Garcia lands a left hook upstairs followed by a left hand to the body. Easter lands a couple of hooks to Garcia. Garcia lands another pair of jabs. Crowd is on their feet as Garcia hits another vicious left hook to the body. Easter missed with the right jab. Garcia lands another left hook to Easter’s ribs and he looked hurt after that one.

Round 10: Easter throws a couple of jabs but they don’t land. Easter continues to move around the ring, trying to survive the fight. Garcia lands a left jab and then a right uppercut to the body. Easter misses with the left jab. Garcia lands a mean left jab followed by a right hook to the body. Garcia throws two straight left hooks with Easter on the ropes.

Round 11: Easter throws a couple of jabs to the body, which proves to be ineffective again. Garcia continues to chase Easter around the ring once again. Easter connects with a short left jab. Garcia lands a right jab that splits Easter’s defense. Garcia unloads a flurry of punches to Easter, who tried to defend and survive. Garcia lands a right hook to the body and Easter responds with a left hand upstairs.

Fightful scored round 11 for Garcia 10-9

Round 12: Garcia lands a left jab upstairs and now both men are trading shots. The crowd chants “Mikey! Mikey! Mikey!” for about 10 seconds. Garcia lands a left hook. Garcia lands three straight punches that connect on Easter’s jaw. Garcia hits Easter with a beautiful 1-2 combination. Garcia lands several punches as Easter continues to survive. Garcia tries to go for the kill but is unable to knock out Easter as the fight ends.
