McJoe Arroyo vs. Rau’Shee Warren Added To July 29 Barclays Center Card
A little more than two years removed from winning the IBF super flyweight title, McJoe Arroyo will have a chance fight for the title once more on July 29.
Arroyo will fight Rau’shee Warren on the undercard of the Adrien Broner vs. Mikey Garcia fight at the Barclays Center on July 29. That fight will be an IBF super flyweight title eliminator with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger to Jerwin Ancajas.
Promoter Lou DiBella made the announcement of the fight and confirmed that it would joined the already stacked Barclays center card, which includes Jermall Charlo vs. Jorge Sebastian Heiland in a WBC middleweight title eliminator.
“Both Rau’shee Warren and McJoe Arroyo are Olympians and former world champions. They are also all-action fighters,” DiBella said. “This is a can’t-miss fight that makes a great boxing card even better.”
Showtime will be airing the card live from Brooklyn, but the Arroyo vs. Warren fight will not be a part of the televised card.
Warren lost the WBA and IBO bantamweight titles back in February when he lost a split decision to Zhanat Zhakiyanov. Warren is also the only boxer from the United States to represent the country in three separate Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012).
Arroyo lost his title to Ancajas last September in Arroyo’s first title defense via unanimous decision. Ancajas recently defended his title in a stoppage win against Teiru Kinoshita in the co-main event of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn fight earlier this month.
