Matchroom Boxing USA To Host First Show In Mexico On February 23
Matchroom Boxing is continuing its global expansion and announced its first boxing card in Mexico.
The promotional company will have a show at the Municipal Auditorium Fausto Gutierrez Moreno in Tijuana, Mexico on February 23. The card will be streamed live on DAZN in the United States and in the main event, former world champion Brandon Rios will face former two-division titleholder Humberto Soto.
Rios, a former lightweight world champion, last fought on November 17 when he scored a TKO win over Ramon Alvarez on a DAZN card from Kansas. Since 2013, Rios sports a 4-4 record in fights. Soto has been fighting professionally since 1997, amassing a 68-9-2 record. The 38-year-old Soto, a former super featherweight and lightweight world champion, has won his last three fights.
Mexico is the latest country to have a Matchroom Boxing presence. Although the card is taking place in Mexico, it is promoted by Matchroom Boxing USA. Late last year, the company announced a partnership with DAZN Italy and Opi Since 82 to host boxing cards in Italy. The next boxing card in that partnership will take place in Milan on March 8.
A number of prospects are also fighting on the undercard, including Diego Pacheco, Omar Aguilar and Alexis Espino. Below is the full lineup thus far announced by Matchroom Boxing:

• Jose Quiniro vs. Joel Cordoba
• Diego Pacheco vs. TBD
• Joselito Velasquez vs. TBD
• Omar Aguilar vs. TBD
